n. the state of understanding what we were, what we need to be now, and what we need to prepare to become./v. preserving the past, in a way that is beneficial to our current community, while preparing it to be passed to future humanity and the iteration that serves them best.
The building sits there, empty, uncared for...because it's historic. No one knows what to do with it. So it delipidates due to fear of ruining it. The irony. But we could preserve it's architecture and unique features, while creating a locally funded community center that offers services, classes, and opportunities it might not otherwise have. Thus developing new generations of community leaders and doers who will protect the good and useful of the past for the good and usefulness of the future.
One day we will look around and our world will be as foreign to those alive as the bronze age is to us. What did we ethically preserve of ourselves and our past for their benefit? What did we actively strive to improve, leaving them with marginally less work than ourselves?
We are not passive passengers in the passage of time; we are proactive proprietors in the propulsion of humanity.
